Teamsters Endorse John KitzhaberThe Teamsters Joint Council 37 endorsed John Kitzhaber’s campaign for Governor today.
“Our members trust John and they know that he has spent his entire career in public service standing up for the rights of working families,” said Lynn Lehrbach, Political Coordinator for Teamsters Joint Council 37. “John fights on the frontlines for workers and our workers are going to fight on the frontlines for him.”
The Teamsters Joint Council 37 represents 30,000 workers throughout Oregon that belong to one of 9 different locals. Nationally the Teamsters have a membership of over 1.4 million, with around 500,000 retirees.
The Teamsters union is divided into the following divisions: Airline, Bakery & Laundry, Brewery & Soft Drink, Carhaul, Dairy, Building Material & Construction, DHL Express, Food Processing, Graphics Communications, Freight, Industrial Trades, Motion Picture & Theatrical Trade, Package, Newspaper, Magazine, Electronic Media, Port, Public Services, Rail, Solid Waste, Tankhaul, Trade Show & Convention Centers, and Warehouse.
Earlier today, Kitzhaber received the endorsement of the Oregon AFL-CIO.

Kitzhaber also boasts the endorsement of over 100 current and former elected officials, including four statewide office holders.
John Kitzhaber is a former two-term Governor of Oregon. An emergency room physician from Roseburg by trade, he has also served in the Oregon House of Representatives and as the Oregon Senate President. In his career he enacted many progressive reforms, including the Oregon Health Plan, the Oregon Education Act for the 21st Century, the Oregon Children's Plan, and the Oregon Salmon Plan. Since leaving office in 2002, he has continued to work on health care reform, natural resource issues and energy policy, leading several nonprofit foundations and boards.
